806D steering pump problems

Hello, I have an 806D with the 361D engine. Its been a good tractor for my hay operation. I have been having trouble with the hydraulic steering and drive(hi/lo torque. I have changed fluid regularly in the past and changed the filter today to try and remedy. At low engine speed steering is hard and drive disengages. I have also added about 4 gallons over fill of oil. Any Ideas , Thanks for info

mcv pump & control valve do steering, brakes, t.a. functions, then lubrication in that order of priority. if you lose hydraulic functions of the mcv the sprag will still pull a load. the only thing the t.a. clutch pack is for is to stop coasting (like the old t.a.'s) the independent p.t.o. drive train runs the mcv pump, hitch pump, and pto pump full time. one more bit of diagnostic info, the t.a. clutch pack will pull a light load. there are some guys on here that are pretty good with these things, they will give you more detailed info

It is more than likely the MCV hydraulic pump, located right behind the MCV valve body. Buzzinduzzin explained the operation well. From what I know about this setup, it can be hard on your T/A to continue running with low hydraulic pressure, so it may be good to get this pump changed as soon as you can.

No it does not. The MCV is a plate on the clutch housing on the left side of the tractor. Disconnect the linkages that connect to or cross it, then take the bolts off around the perimeter and it should come right off. The pump is bolted to the center of the plate with four bolts that come from the outside.
