Rear axel seals A FARMALL

I got brain freeze. Which way do the axel seals go lip toward or away from fluid/oil,maybe it dosen"t matter I can"t remember and didn"t pay close attention when taking it apart?

It depends on how you look at it, but the easiest way to think of it is you want the oil to sit in the cavity of the seal, not dirt.

Smooth side out. The lip faces what you want to keep in.
