Hood latch on Super C not fastening

The front left hood latch on my 1952 Super C is not fastening. It does not look like it catches the brace bar enough to hook it. Anyone else ever have this problem? If so, what is the solution?

I wonder if something is bent wrong some way because surely the hood latch has worked at one time.

The latch sometimes sticks on my SM...(I think all letters have that problem)I simply push in on the hood and tap 'up' on the latch.

It is not sticking. The hook is just not catching on the brace. The latch is going up as far as possible. Either I need to put something (perhaps a tension pin) on the end of the hook or put something on the brace (weld a piece of iron on it so it sticks down further). Maybe the hood is bent or something but kind of odd. My other Super C hood fits fine.

Thanks

Larry, I had the same problem on my C. I finally took a short section of copper tubing and put it over the J Hook and it was long enough to snug the hood to the latch. Worked for me--hopefully it will work for you! Steve

I've run into some that just don't seem to fit very well. Maybe the hood is placed a little crooked. Try unhooking the other 3 corners and see if the problem corner can be hooked first. If so, then hook the one straight across the tractor from it. Then hook the 2 at the other end.
