Am I missing a regulator????

Here is a picture of my grandpa's '52 H with the hood off. I haven't gotten it started yet, so I'm not worried about the charging system yet, but I thought there would have been a regulator at the top of the generator. [b:978cb6606a]Am I missing something?[/b:978cb6606a]

THANKS!

Check under the fuel tank where the dash or what I consider to be the dash is. I have found then there and not easy to get to.

Kinda looks like one in that second picture but Im NOT an IHC expert by any means. If you get her wired up correct and need some help troubleshooting a non charging problem I posted a URL link to my troubleshooting procedure. On those hard to reach VR's if you need to polarize the genny you can use a small jumper wire to just momentarily flash jump a hot battery voltage source (like where the big battery cable atatches to a starter switch post etc) to the ARM post on the genny.

Be glad it is in a rather protected place. Our SMTA had the VR down by the brake pedals on the side of the post. Couple of times the VR got knocked off when a muddy boot slipped off the brake pedal.

I would check (or have someone check, if you are unfamiliar) that the generator and regulator are good BEFORE you connect them up. Prevention is better than cure and it is cheaper clean a generator and regulator than to rebuild them after they have been burnt out. Looks like the regulator has been disconnected at some stage. Also, if you want to use the wiring on the tractor, be quite certain that it is not damaged and cannot create a direct short circuit to Earth / Ground.
