1566 manifold

My old 1566 has no seal left at the seperation joint between the manifold halves. I havent got my nerve (or wallet) up to try to remove those old rust welded bolts for fear of breaking them off at the head. What would it hurt if I cleaned everything up and braised up the joint?

Do not use an impact wrench but a pull handle and remove the manifold. Just go easy. Bolts can break at any time, but I have never broke a manifold bolt and most units are a lot older than the one you mention.

That joint allows the manifold to stay put on the head as the iron of the manifold heats to operating temp. making it solid will either break it, or cause it to slide on the head, either way, it will be trouble. Most manifold bolts seem to be able to be removed easily. and beyond expecations. Jim
