Super C gov. linkage binding after new manifold

I bought a new Zenith carb for Super C and installed on orgional manifold. Everything worked good. Had to replace 60 year old manifold with aftermarket one. Now linkag from govner is binding against block. Hard to move even with pliers! Thought about stacking manifold gaskets to get clearance, but i think they would blow out easily. Anyone had this problem and how did you overcome this. Thanks for you ideas and experinces.

Can you turn the throttle rod over to gain clearance? If you have the outer "elbow" of the rod against the block, try grinding some off of the curve of the bend. Last suggestion---make the holes in the new manifold oblong away from the block to gain clearance. I forget if the bolts thread in the manifold--I believe they do---use bolts in the oblong holes.

A different idea is to have the manifold angle milled about 1/2 degree to put it in the correct place. Jim

The problem is not the manifold but your "new" carb. You should be able to bend the arm where the linkage fastens. Comapre the old one to the replacement carb. You can also install the linkage so the cotter pin side is next to the block.
