1 wire delco 10 alternater to M with mag.

Do I need to use the diode on a 1 wire alt. on M with Magneto? Does this wire go to out side of amp. guage or in side of guage. I'm thinking, if no diode, battery will be run down back thru alternater. Thanks. Buck

You dont need the diode with a Magneto, it dont use battery power and has no battery powered coil that could get backfed like a coil distributor ignition...

You dont need the diode with a One Wire Alternator, its to prevent battery powered coil ignition back feed run on in three wire set ups

The alternators output wires to the LOAD (NOT battery/starter) side of the ammeter. Thats the same terminal that feeds hot battery voltage to loads like lights etc. The ammeters other SUPPLY terminal has but one wire that leads to the battery often where the big battery cable atatches to starter.

The alternators has its own diode backfeed prevention so the batery dotn run down when shes setting

Got it??????
