Finally got the M home with the help of my brother in law and his uncle and we noticed that that the temp gauge does not have the green/red indicators, it has numbers from 100-250 degrees (not sure on how high it goes, not in front of the tractor right now)......

What is a good running temp? I dont want to do any damage if it starts to get really hot.
Thanks, Anthony

They run on the colder side if not run hard. Normal working temp is 155-180 depending on thermostat. Lower then 150 or above 190 you have a faulty thermostat (stuck open if cold or closed or plugged system, be it in the engine or the radiator if hot)

I will add to Andrews Comments that the temp gauge might lay on 100 if the tractor is idling around. The cooling system is designed to control temps when the engine is producing 100% power for hours on end. Unlike a car that makes 15 HP when going 70 mph and sees only bursts of full power.
IH also made the bypass in the Tstat housing too large, and they just stay cool unless worked. Jim
