706 farmall lp

I just found a farmall 706 lp wfe,junk cheap!the engine has 15 hrs on in frame overhaul new pistons, rings,liners& bearings.says everything works,needs tires,lp tank leaks. he says he is done with projects,to old, no more interest in the hobby.Haven"t got to see yet, but will post pics soon!!!!
Are these rare,how many made,can i get the leak fixed,are lp parts available,engine swaps with?would this be a wise investment for a grand?
I have a 504 farmmall rc nf gas with t/a almost done for parades and shows& 3020 gas jd that i use a little around the shop & house.I guess you could say now i got the bug!

Jump on it!! I'm sure LP tanks can be fixed...OR, you might want to get a gas tank and carb at salvage yard and convert over to gas!! Check tires, TA, etc...but for a grand, you can't get hurt...Cmore

factory LP's are fairly scarce, id keep it LP. I have an 806, 400 and 450 that are all LP's and i really dig em. On the 706 and 806 they were just the gasser's with domed piston in them to properly burn the LP. heads were the same as the gas engine.if you plan on doing any sort of work with it, be ready for a thirsty tractor!!

should be lots of salvage yards down south and western states that would probably have a tank for you. 706 had a smaller tank then the 806's so i think its a model specific deal

Chris, SAVE IT !!!!!!!
Just Saved a 656 LP from the Crushers about 2 months ago. Last week ordered all 4 replacement parts for the LP tank about $95 all total! "Liquid, Vapor, Liquid Fill, Vapor return"
The engine wasn't stuck, dropped the pan, cleaned out the nasty oil & residue, and cleaned the oil screen assembly, Plugs, wires, cap, points, condenser, fresh oil, and filter, It will run on gas, will get tank filled later this week and we will go from there.
Save it, At one time 706 LPs were about as numerous as hair on a dogs back here in Texas.

Chris, I think, if, it has fast hitch, you should get and let me test drive it for you. Actualy, you could use my disc if it is fast hitch!
