Checking Transmission oil level in Farmall 100

Hi Folks
Any recommendations on how to easily check the transmission oil level in a Farmall 100. I remember reading at one point that you could open the transmission oil access beside the clutch and use a clothes hanger wire to check the level of the oil, but I don't have reference point for what would be correct level on the wire and is there a right way to position the wire amidst all the gears in there.

The correct level is when the oil runs out the check plug. If you need a coat hanger to find the oil, it's low.
