took the brakes off 53 cub lines are good but oil soaked can i wash these up & still get use out of them or better to get new ones ..thanks

I've cleaned up several sets of disc brake pads off of Farmalls Super C/H's with brake cleaner. After they are good and dry I'll knock the glaze off in the blast cabinet.

I've never tried it but my buddy who is a retired Ford then International mechanic heats them up with a torch till the oil is burned off.

I'll try that the next time I have the occasion.

As Dean said, you can burn them off with a torch. I've done this a couple times, but the brakes will be real sensitive afterwards.

That's how we just did our brakes.

One was real bad.

Just heated them with a torch - once they get hot enough, they start to just burn on their own.

(I used a handheld mapp gas torch - don't go crazy getting the metal glowing red or anything)

There's nothing in them that's supposed to burn, so just let it all burn out. Takes a few tries, so be patient.

What doesn't burn usually gets pushed out the bottom. Keep going till there's no more oil.

Obviously this is an outdoor activity - lots of smoke.

Check the oil level in the transmission. If your brakes are oil soaked the tranny is overfilled. The seals are only intended to keep back splashed oil. They aren't made to keep back a flood, even your new seals will leak if overfull.
