This is a newbie question... I am installing a new rear wheel seal on my 300U. Everything is going fine but question is: do you oil the felt or leave it dry?

Thanks,
Alex H

I throw the felt away. The new seal has a double lip. One is for keeping dirt out, other oil and grease in. The felt puts so much pressure on the face of the seal the outer lip does no good. My two cents. All later model tractors did away with the felt also.

I leave the felt seals in place if they are still there. If not, I don't worry about them. If they are there, I try to clean them up and oil them.
