Farmall A pnuematic lift

I have a Farmall A with a pnuematic lift on the cultivators that has seen better days. I am considering replacing the lift with an electric winch and am wondering if anyone has done something similar and could give me pics/imput.
Thanks

Even with a deep cycle battery running a winch a lot will run the battery down pretty quick since it isn't being charged while in use.

sure, why not
I have a winch on a Ford to lift the front snowplow.
I use a snatch block and cable loop because
the plow is heavy and the winch is weak.
12v with alternator keeps up fine.
I'm seriously considering putting a temporary winch on my Super C with fast hitch, until I get the hydraulics all sorted out.
(sat a long time, and they are a mess)

I guess i started this thread with the idea that the system was too quirky to use and would be better being replaced. I hadnt really tried to troubleshoot the system and the little bit i ran it, it would raise the cultivators, but i had to hold the exhaust valve shut to keep them up. this resulted in the tractor having no power. I did take the control valve apart and discovered I am missing the disc and seat in the control valve. Also the control valve lever is broken, leaving no place to attach the spring. I checked with my local dealer, and amazingly I can get the disc and seat. One thing I am wondering tho- are these setups user friendly enough to spend the money on?

They're easier to work on and find parts for than you might think. Gene is the expert and the connection.
I have one (don't use it much because the tractor mainly is used to pull a manure spreader and rake hay) it seems to work pretty well. Getting them to hold at a set level seems to be the trick. They will do that though if all the seals are good.

Thanks for the imput. I think y'all have talked me into fixing up the old unit. I have ordered the disc and seat. They no longer make the control valve lever. Does any one have one for sale? Email me if you do.
