Farmall B Generator question

Just got my generator back from being rebuilt. Got new field coil, bearings and bushings, and brush set.

The shop wired the cut off relay terminal GEN to the A post on generator. Post F is blank on the generator body/housing.

I have two wires to hook to the generator that i took off awhile ago and didn't mark. The bigger 10-12 guage wire looks like it goes to the BAT terminal and the smaller wire to the F terminal on the cut out relay??? They "lay" in that direction. I am re wiring the entire tractor because of the orignal harness looks tired.

The B has factory lights front and rear and starter. The tractor also has a mag. Still positive ground.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP GUYS.

The heavier wire comes from the ammeter and goes to the battery terminal on the cut off relay. The lighter wire comes from the light switch and connects to the F terminal on the generator.

Use an OHM meter and check that ALL of the system for ground including the lite sw and polarize the gen by using s piece of wire jump from the Bat terminal on the cutout to the Arm post on the gen.

ok. gunna try the orginal switch because a new one is 100.00 from case ih. part number 128967a1.
all the wiring will be new.

Your talking about the armature post marked A rigth? Not the F post.

from what i can tell the F terminal on the cut out relay is a sense wire in the ameter box? its wired to a connection to the ameter housing. Is that how it determines the load on the system and how much to charge?

That is correct. If you need an original sw i have one. Original from the factory there was a wire going from the F term on the cut-out to the F term on the Gen. I have several of the A and Bs all wired that way. Some wiring dia showed it that way also and once in a while when servicing one it will still have the original wiring.

do i need that wire from the F post to the f terminal on the cut out? it wasn"t there before and bought tractor with generator not working.

thanks gene.
