Autolite spark plug question

When I got my A last fall it had Autolite 386 plugs. I'm not familiar with Autolites as the rest of my tractors have Champions. I was just wondering what the equivalent Champion is to an Autolite 386. I don't have a reason to change them - just want to know what I have.

That would be a Champion D21. I gave up with the Champions 10 years ago. I use the Autolite 386 in my Hs and Ms now.

Do yourself a favor and keep the Autolite plugs in it. Myself, I prefer to use 3116 which is equivalent to the heat range of the 386 but is non a resistor plug.

Bouncer i am TRYEN something different at this time .I jumped ship on the Autolites . I put a set of NKG's in the 706 , now due to CRS i can not remember the number they are COLDER then the 3116's . This past week the 706 has had it's bag worked Did all the corn planting on one tank of fuel running first high pulling a 7000 JD 4 row no till with dry fertilizer at 4.5 mph over 74+ acres , mowed 45 acres of first cutting up and down some rough ground with the worst yet to come. Sofar it has been running good .

NGK is a very good plug. I have ran them in vehicles before, and my buddy runs them in his JD A pulling tractor. Just for an FYI, Autolite now has out two series above the standard plug. Think of them as good, better, and best. I just bought a set of the top line "best" for my wife's car. Haven't got them in yet, but they get great reviews on several discussion boards. They have a electrode made of something different that is supposed to conduct better and hardly wear. They were about $9 a piece.

We use to pull a 4 row 7000 Deere with dry fert. with a 450 gas at 4.5 mph. Didnt work it to much.
Use to plant 300 acres that way.

I have always used champions and had very good luck with them. The champ equel would be a d21 . If you are plowing or doing heavy feild work with I would use a d17. The autolite works well in the ford stuff but always have used champs.in my Ih stuff and my Case stuff also. I put them in my Allis and the old girl starts a lot better then th autos.Kenny

Interesting. I've used NGKs in all my 2-Stoke engines for as long as I can remember and they're been very good plugs.

I might have to cross them and give them a try in one of my tractors. The champions seemed to foul very easily, I've been running Autolites for years and they've worked pretty well for me.

tractor vet,
probably NGK AB6.
Same as a late 60s Rotax.
I like the reduced size head for the tight spark plug spaces on the smaller farmalls.
