Hello again,
Do any of you Gentlemen happen to have a diagram (or sideview/cutaway)of the PTO assembly for my 42 "H" ? I have another slow leak of new gearoil (around the outer (tailend)seal, that needs my attention. Thanks again for all your assistance.

Sapper, the seal resides in a seal retainer that is bolted on the end of the pto unit.

Take out two bolts and the retainer will be on your work bench. Knock the seal out and replace with a new on, then replace the seal retainer.

Here is a link to a diagram:

copy and paste if you have to, I can only get the link to work in modern view:

You will want to point that downhill or you will have 90W pouring out! Another tip is to hold the PTO shaft as you pull off that seal carrier or the shaft might come with it. That happened to me on the Indy M and it was a bear getting back in!

unless you pull the bearings with your bare hands, and bend the pto shift dog with your powers of persuasion, the shaft will stay put.
