Hydraulic pump on 1950 Super A

Ok, this may be a silly question, but how can one make a gasket 'smaller' to facilitate installing it in the hydraulic pump? I can't get this to line up long enough to put the bolts in, and the last two blew out on me.

Any ideas?

That's a "rubber" seal, not a gasket, get a new one from CaseIH. I'm not recommending this as I think your seal needs to be replaced. If you remove the pump you can turn it over so the seal faces up and it won't droop on you.

I don't think there's any way to "shrink" something like that to fit.

IT definitely looks like the wrong seal to me. Or, like so many parts made overseas, it was manufactured incorrectly.

If you can't wait for a new one, I'd just take the pump off and sit it flat. It's just two more bolts.

COULD use a little gasket sealer to sort of glue it in place, but I'd be worry about it flaking and getting junk in your hydraulics which is never a good thing.

That square cut o ring should be put in the groove in one part, then put the pump together with 2 bolts. Then put it on the engine.
