Putting TA in 44 H

I have a 44 H that at some point in it's life the PO busted the right rear hub. As with most farmers of that day he took it to someone who goobed it up with weld and it has broken again on me. I have found a 350 with bad motor that has been sitting up for a while (30 years). My question would I really gain much by swapping in the rear end and making (dare I say it) a HTA. I am using this tractor, it's not a show tractor by any means I have a altarnator, after market lights and I'm looking into swapping in some type of after market seat to make it more comfortable to stay on for long periods of time. I want to make it easier and better...but if I won't gain much I'd rather not go to all that trouble. So anyone done one of these swaps...was it worth it?

OK...look at the major criticisms of the Farmall
H: no live hydraulics, no live PTO, and no 3-point
hitch keep it from being a "modern" tractor. So
if you swap in the back half of the 350, and add
the live hydraulics from the 350...then add
something like the Saginaw 3-point hitch....you
have eliminated all the "criticisms" of the
Farmall H, except the one that it doesn't have
enough power for certain jobs.

Personally, I'd do it. But that's just my point
of view.

It would probably be much easier to swap the engine only instead trying to mate the two halves and fabricate the hydraulic controls to fit on the "H half".

I have a 49 H that I would like to mount a international 350 TA housing on. This would just be for fun. Please let me know what you decide to do (whether you switch the engines or rearends) i like to know how things go if you swap rear ends.
Thanks

Hope you have deep pockets, some engineering and design knowledge and at least a good sized boring mill...

Why?? The front half of the H will bolt right up to the rear half of the 350, and the only engineering needed is drilling some holes in the 350 deck so the H steering support can be mounted.

I would do it in a n instant. Wouldn't you also gain live power? Hydraulics too if you did the front plate swap.

If you put your H engine on a 300-350 rear end, and you use it for tillage, you need to up the HP of the H engine. Reason is the gears in the 300-350 and even in the Super H are different, 4th is 6+ mph and 3rd in the SH-up is only 1/8 MPH slower than the 5 1/8 mph 4th in the H. If you are doing any kind of heavy tillage that leaves you with only one field gear-2nd, 1st being too slow if you ever want to get done. 3rd is considered a field gear in the H (I used it for years), while 4th can only be used for lighter loads, same with 3rd in the 300/350 with the H engine.

You can run it on 4th TA which is slower than 3rd and faster than 2nd. 3rd is 5.2 mph in the 350, 4th TA 4.5. 2nd is 3.8. Many people say this will ruin the TA. Not trying to start an argument as we never had a TA equipped tractor. I have 2 now, but use them mostly for bush hogging.

I like the idea of putting the H engine in the 350,
understand it might be a little weak on power. If
you decide to paint it all up letter it as a "325"
or something just to mess with folks.
