Cubs clutch (I think)

Got a 50 Cub. The other day I noticed the rear end growling. oThe clutch had to be pushed all the way in, and that didnt help with shifting, which was going into gear grinding. I would think it was the clutch plate gone, but I dont hear nothing up in the hogs head, just under my fat but

you could have a few things off; First the Cub rears are know to be alittle growl when moving nature of them. Second, why you cant shift could be either, worn or imporper adjustment of the clutch pedal, or worn throw out bearing. Third could be worn pressure plate figers or way out adjustment. If you look in the manual it will tell you how to adjust the clutch, i would start with that and then look at the throw out bearing second.

My Cub Cadet "120" (70 with a Kohler 301) didn't want to shift and grinded when I tried to put it in gear when I first got it. Once I bolted the motor onto the frame the problem went away. The real PIA was it didn't have any bolts holding the motor on because someone prior to me stripped all the threads out of the holes in the bottom of the pan. Can you say Heli-coil? I knew you could

Bet that cub is one of those with the carbon throw out bearing and they wear to the point they do not work any longer so makes for hard shifting. BTDT on a friends cub a number of years ago. Replaced the throw out bearing and all has been just fine ever since
