farmall h radiator

I need to remove the h radiator. The steering rod passes thru the radiator. Does anyone have directions on how to remove this rod which passes through the worm gear. thanks

That's the easy part. loosen the bolt clamping the U joint at the front of the fuel tank then tap it a little as you turn the shaft (counterclockwise looking at it from the front of the tractor) and it will screw right out. There will be a woodruff key in the shaft you will have to remove at some point as it will not pass through the bearing. I guess it's self-explanatory that you have to remove the threaded cap on the bolster.

Glad to hear I am not the only person to have dropped that woodruff key. I did that many years ago when working on the Farmall M. I was always dismantling and re-assembling things at the farm. I was probably twelve or thirteen when I lost the woodruff key and my Dad did not see the funny side of it for some time. I found the key some years later, just where it had fallen behind the motor into years and years of accumulated dust and dirt. Dad laughed when it turned up. It did teach me to clean first and dismantle second.

I found the key behind the motor after I bought a new one. I
searched and searched on the ground.

They hide very well.
