found a set of dual tires and hubs for my 1066, the only thing is, they are 20.8 on 38's. the tires on mine are 18.4 on 38's. my qustion is, are theigger tires taller than the 18.4's? or just wider. and someone welded the hubs to the rim. any ideas as to why they would have done that would be appriciated. thanks guys

Who knows, the mechanic at the place I used to work welded the battery cables to the battery posts, gave a good connection and the battery lasted a while longer. Some people like to take shortcuts rather than doing it right.

If the duals are cheap enough you could get them and look for a clapped-out set of 18.4's to put on the rims.

Heck, you might be able to get away with the 20.8's if you run 'em soft.

The 20.8's are significantly taller than the 18.4's unfortunately. It works OK when the 20.8's are on the inside, but I gotta imagine having the bigger tires on the outside would cause undue strain on the axles. If they're clamp-on duals, even worse...

I agree with your comment concerning running the taller tires on the outside would increase the strain on the axles.

Another thing I have always been curious about when I see different sized duals is: in soft soil the tires can/may have a different rolling radius. If the rolling radius is different, one tire must slip to allow both to travel at the same speed. Has anyone seen a fuel consumption increase when using different size duals?
