The cub still will not stay running, today I put a good carb off of a running on it,,was the same as before,,It will start and idle fair, but when you push the throttle up it will just die,,any thoughts. I am about ready to pull the rest of my hair outtttttt.......

My first guess would be it's lean, I'd check that my doing some action with the choke when you throttle it up. If it is lean that can be caused by a multitude of things including restricted fuel flow and leaks in the intake. Could also be spark, what does your spark look like or will it throw a good BLUE spark 1/4"? Go to the Ford 8N board on this site and search for "50 tips" about 48 of them apply to any old tractor their wisdom could serve you well.

Sounds to me it has something to do with a timing
problem. Not sure what type of govenor it has, I
don't think the spark is advancing when you increase the throttle.ggp

Are you getting good fuel flow to carb?
If you have not done so yet shut off fuel at sediment bowl and remove fuel line at carb have a container to catch fuel turn fuel on and catch in your container you should have a good stead flow about a quart per minute if not their is a restricton in fuel delivery. GOOD LUCK

check valve adjustment, fuel flow, spark is hot,and maybe the govener weights are stuck and not letting the timing advance. If the govener is not working it will fall on its face and most of the time just die. Don't know if these thoughts will help. Good luck.

Check your fire to your plugs while the engine is running. See if you have a hot blue spark to your plugs, should jump about 1/4 inch. If it's yellow and weak you may have a weak coil. Hal
