IHC four cylinder stationary motor: 426 3524 V12513 . Fits?

Can anyone tell me from the numbers my dad copied off an IHC four cylinder stationary motor, what if any tractors it will fit? We are sure it is smaller than that of an M. The numbers: : 426 3524 V12513.

Someone may recognize the serial, but once I am out of the letter and early number series I can't tell. A picture of the engine would be easier than using the serial.

I agree, but currently we do not own the engine, nor have a photo, or will we likely have a chance soon. I am afraid he didn't git the most informative numbers off of it.

If the numbers came off of a serial number plate it would have to be one of the later IH gas engines. The serial plate would be for the the power unit assembly, not just the engine. I don't know just when IH switched to that kind of serial number plates but it was somewhere around 1970 or just a bit earlier. The numbers would be the kind, code, country of manufacture, and the sequential serial number. If that is the case mot likely the V is actually a U, made in the USA.

Going with that assumption, being a four cylinder, if it is a flat head engine it would be a C60, same as a Cub. If it is an overhead valve engine it could be a C157, C175, or C200. I think the C153 was discontinued before the change in serial number styles. I am not familiar enough with the Cub engine to know where the serial for the engine is stamped but on the others the size and serial number should be located near the distributor.

Well that helps a little--he took the number (stamped in) off the block, but doesn't remember the location. And he didn't stop to look at it long enough that now he doesn't remember which head it has. So, eventually, we will need to make a trip to look at it again.
