1949 Farmall Cub spark problems

I have a 1949 Farmall cub. I am getting decent spark from the coil the distributor cap, but not good spark from the cap to the plugs. What could be the problem? I timed the tractor. Set the gap on the points. I am getting an orange spark to spark plugs instead of strong blue one. Any ideas?

distributor cap, rotary button, plug wires.
my friend says to use only copper wires for plug wires. farmall will not run well on graphite wires.

Are you sure it has a distributor ? In 1949 they had a mag. Is it still 6 volt?
With out a little more info we can only guess.

Yes, it has a magneto. It is 12 volt now. Can I add a newer style coil and bypass the electrical producing part of the magneto? I am not trying to keep the tractor "original" just functional. I got it to start last evening 3 times in a row. It ran well. This morning, it won't start.

When you had that piece off to set the points, did you get the gears back in time? The wrong wires can make a yellow spark. It needs copper core wires.
