LoBoy Cub runs about 10 minutes and stops, has gas, Is with elect. or with gas? Had set for about year before acquiring this Lo-Boy.

If the fuel is in plenty supply at the carb inlet fitting, the next issue is to see if it runs just a little longer with some application of choke. Not full choke, but some. If it does it may be the needle and seat in the carb partially plugged up. The fuel tank cap must also have a clean open vent hole. If it does, and the choke makes no difference, see if the coil is hot. If it is, the coil is probably bad. As soon as it stops on its own, Pull the coil wire and hold it near the block with insulated pliers. Crank it to see if there is a nice blue spark, if not the coil is still the suspect. Set the points .020" on the high point of the distributor cam, and see if that helps. Jim

Thanks. This Cub Lo-Boy has dual Howard gear reductions and a 6' flail mower. Really want to get out and working. I can be as slow as 1/2mph with the gears engaged. Will check items you suggested. Thank you

Remove that tube fitting where your fuel line connects the carburetor. It may have a screen
behind that fitting that's plugged. Also when it quits running pull off the plug wire asap before it cools and see if you have fire to the plug. Hal

If it is dying then waiting a several minutes then runs again, could be the coil breaking down. When it quits, see if the coil is real hot. Don't grab it, you might get burned!

My cub did that a few years ago, after setting for sometime. Tried everything. Got the notion that maybe there was a little water in the carb. Took the drain plug out for a second, put er back in. Ran like a champ from then on.

Buy or make a "jump gap" spark tester. When the engine dies next time check for a strong spark.
Instead of guessing, it is better to test the easiest thing to check first.
IF the spark will jump a ¼" air gap, then the fuel system is next on the list of "suspects" in the case of "tradctor quits running".
Good luck.
