FARMALL H max tire size

I have 14.9 38 on mine and they are about as big as could
reasonably be accommodated, or bigger. They work fine but I
cannot imagine that it would be satisfactory to have 18.4s.

Not really at all, you can get a 15.5 on a 10" but there pinched like heck. You need a min and i mean a bare min of a 14" rim for a 18.4

Factory rims,NO WAY!!!!!

You would have to widen them for the 18.4s You DO NOT even need 18.4s unless you just want them????

I run 14.9s on my Super M and That is what is going back on it here shortly.Thet are on a 12" rim antd that is the SMALLEST rim I would put them on,although you can SQUEEZE them on smaller rims, but it defeats the purpose of the bigger tire because it "rounds" the tread more.(A little less traction.)

That's too bad, great tries for $200 each and only 100 miles away.

Thanks,
Wayne

Look on most tire web sites and they will show you
reccomended rim size/tire size. You can go up about one size
tire after that you are "ballooning" the tire and will wear out the
center of the tread and possibly have less traction than a
properly matched combination.

On the correct rims they will increase ground speed and kill your power. Ideal tires for the H are 12.4-38, with an absolute maximum of 13.6-38.

I think mine has 10" rims, and 12.4 tires. I am planning to
put 13.6 on it. I would not go wider than that. My MH 44
has 11" rims, I am planning on 14.9.

Can they be put on? yes. will they inflate.? yes. Will they roll? yes. Will they be ugly? yes. Would I do it? No. 13.6 or 14 series. Jim

(quoted from post at 15:01:15 05/10/12) Are 18.4-38 tires too big for an H with factory rims?

The factory rims are only 10 inches wide. Optional was an 11 inch wide rim. An 18.4 tire is WAY too wide for either of those rims. If you want to an 18.4 tire, you need to get the cast centers from a Farmall 300 or 350, and 16 inch wide double bevel rims. The double bevel rims will NOT bolt up to the existing Farmall H cast centers.

If the tractor in the picture is yours you don't need tires.
Those look great. As others have said you would need much
wider rims to make 18s work and then you are going to need
different centers too. Besides it would look pretty stupid.

I need tires for an H that is for sale. The H in the pic was free. It was my first tractor paint job.

Yes, 18.4 x 38 is way too big for a H. It would look like a kid with too big tennis shoes, would loose much power, and speeds would be too high. Either 12.4 x 38 or 13.6 x 38 maximum are best on a H.
