Who ever this guy is I'd like to ask him a couple questions

fire-crater, stepped, or dome head pistons compared to a flat piston are going to give you a higher compression ratio, thus more power. If your rebuilding you H you want to put in a set of dome pistons. They sell a set on this site that is just that, around 300 or so for a set. Whichever piston you decide to go with make sure it has some kind of dome on it, no real reason not to.

Fire crater has a scientifically designed swirl pattern crater in the piston,(that is what we were told) to get more bang for your buck. NO, really I do like fire crater design. IH went to that style standard when they came with the 706 whereas the 263 used in the 560 had the plain step piston. I always felt the 706 gas run nicer. Put a lot of craters in M's etc.

The website you are referring to is by Randy aka: "Neblinc". I also frequent his website for the great pictures! He is a frequent contributor on this forum- has helped me out numerous times.

With Fire-Craters, the correct jets in the carburetor, and the correct timing and advance in the distributor you will gain 3 - 4 hp over the original cast iron flat top pistons.

MF165Farmer, ask away and I will try and help.
Most everything I learned about working on the H came from the great people on this forum.
