Jumping 3pt on 656

Gentlemen,

My 656 has developed a jump in the 3pt after spraying some rather rough ground with a 300 gal 3 pt sprayer. Now when I raise the hitch even with light loads it will come up to level, drop about 2" and then raise again. It pulses at the frequency of about once per second. The hitch seems to have the same lift capacity, though it"s tough to tell when its jumping. I"ve pulled the top cover and the pressure relief is not bypassing, and I do not see any bubbling/turbulence. The service manual says it may be the oring/seal on the cylinder, or the drop cushion valve and to determine the problem via inspection but doesn"t explain how to inspect. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

300 gallons is an awful lot of weight(2400 lbs water plus the weight of the rig) on a small tractor.I'd say you're damn lucky all you did was "blow a seal".When you get it repaired, drop back to 100 or 150 gal.Better yet,get a trailer type sprayer.

Naw,

That tractor 3-point will lift itself off the ground. At a ton and a half, it's only at half of it's capacity. :>)

"Probably" the piston seal.

Endless cycle, thing bleeds off and the hitch then "hiccups" to put 'er back right again. Over and over.
