our little museum is in ceres, va, the hometown of henry groseclose, the man who founded the ffa. we were donated on old threshing machine, a new racene junior, made for international harvester by belle city mfg. i was looking for any info on this machine and maybe what color was used with the ihc red such as on the metal parts like the wheels. i would appreciate any help.
thanks

If it is an all wood machine, I believe they were all red with green framework & pulleys. There should be enough paint hiding in the nooks & crannies, under grease, etc., to get you started. You could try searching the galleries in the column to the left. Someone else out there may have a picture posted of a restored or nice original machine. Also, if you follow the link below, that site has a few New Racine thresher posters posted under farm equipment: threshers & look on the second & third pages. I would also recommend contacting the historical society. They may have some other colored sales posters not posted on the site.

Good luck with your project!

Mike

thank you so much for your help

For storing & posting photos, I use Photobucket. It's free (at least, it still should be) & pretty easy to use.

I left a link below to the page with the poster I was thinking of. It's in the second row from the bottom, second poster in from the left. It has a green frame, though. I noticed the poster is from 1919 & IHC made them from 1915 - 1924, according to the "Machine Product Listing" also found on the Wisconsin Historical Society website. They may have been a different color at some point in production. You should probably contact the society. If there's any info, that's may be your best bet.

Good luck & I hope you get a chance to post some pics of the thresher & its progress.

Mike

P.S. You might want to try posting in the Implement Alley or Combines & Harvesters discussion forums on this site. A couple of those guys might have seen a New Racine thresher & know what color they are. You could also check ebaY off 'n' on for a manual.
Is it close?
