Gently pry behind the cover; it is a unit so all parts come out together.
Have you drained the transmission? Otherwise put a 5 gallon bucket underneath to catch the oil that will run out. Or park with the front end in a depression so the oil runs to the front of the transmission.

Make sure all of the bolts are out. Sometimes one will hide in the old grease and grime that tends to build up in that area.

The plate assembly will pull off but I strongly recommend you do not pull the shaft out. It is a bear to line up to stick back in!!!!

all 5 bolts....just to make sure. you may have to tap a little and use a chisel...be easy or you can break the casting. face it down hill or get a bucket for the grease.

stick a length of pipe over the tail piece to balance the back end.
that helps to stab in the front end.

Ray that was exactly what I ended up doing. I still had the long threaded rods from the 1999 H project that I used to raise the liftall. Those rods and a long pipe did the trick. Still was a 3 hour headache.
