Hopefully not the dumbest question ever asked.

I'm sure it isn't but here it is. I just got my 350UD and I noticed that 1) It blows blue for a while when started. 2) temp gauge doen't move off COLD. So I covered the Radiator 3/4 ths and the gauge moved up to the Green RUN area. Looking in the Parts Breakdown I did not see a part number for a thermostat. I ASSUME that there should be one. Am I wrong?

Thanks

Loren

If it clears up in 10 min or so all is well, run it. Diesels run very cold unless worked for a living. It is not going to heatup until the plow is in the ground. Leave the cardboard off when doing that. The engines are pretty good if running OK repairs are seriously costly as the parts are made from "unobtanium" or "cost your first born" If you want to use it as a short run utility tractor Off on off on ten minutes at a time and the garden, it is not your best option, a gasser is much better for that. I own one of those gassers and it is just fine. The diesels are tough to start, even with a good manifold heater device (standard equipment, but not much help.) A whiff of starting fluid was always used on our neighbors 350UD even within 10 min of shutting it off. Jim

Yeah, sounds well within the range of "normal" to me too...

It might not be perfect but it's got a loooong way to go before it needs any major work if the blue clears up. It'll probably outlast you.
