MTA rear end question

My brother in law said that some of the balls or all of the balls have fallen out of one of the rear end bearings, im not sure if that makes sense, that is how he described it to me yesterday. Can i move that tractor without doing major harm to the transmission? Dont have time to split the tractor, farm is being sold and I need to get it out of there....if its going to do damage any suggestions to minimize it?

Thanks, Anthony

Its a big gamble, axle bearings & brake pinions bearings were prone to fail after time or heavy loads like a mounted corn picker, if ball gets in bull gear between pinion teeth it will lock or break teeth, at worst break the bottom of the rear diff case, I have trucked these in to the shop when they stuck, have be very careful.

Only safe way I can think of to do it is to lock the wheels with the brakes and put old sheet metal under the tires to slide it up onto a rollback truck with the winch. Around here $75-100 will get you a tow up to 20 miles or so and it would be a lot cheaper than having to put in new bull gears or a new housing.

Drain the oil, pull the PTO, grab all the chunks with your hands/magnet an drive it on the trailer. You should probably put your used oil back in, but if you are only driving it 100 yds it will live.
