656 Hydro freewheeling update

OK! Tonight I had a chance to do some more testing. Removed and capped the two lines and gave it another try. It worked perfectly!
Reconnected the two lines and the problem returns. So it sounds like the problem exists in the external controls. I assume that’s good news. So is the general consensus then to next try exchanging the A & B capsules and see what happens?

One other thing I noticed after plowing the other day was that the spin on Hydrostatic filter on the left, while slightly warm, was not nearly as warm as the hydraulic filter housing on the right. Don’t know if this is significant or not. I changed both filters when I bought it last fall.

Darnit Tim!

Now, didn't I just tell ya that a weeka ago? :>)

As you are sitting in the driver's seat, the left capsule controls "de-acceleration". It's either wrong or in the wrong pew.

Switch 'em while looking for a torn o-ring on that left capsule.

Then, if the tractor still does not act right, I'd sure be for going to CaseIH and get both new. They 'hammer' just like those check valves down in 'er belly and they do wear out.

Ooops!

Sorry, fingers got ahead of my pee-brain. In the driver's seat, it's the RIGHT capsule.

Don't do what I say, do what I mean. :>)

I will pull both of them out tonight but according to the online parts diagram

http://partstore.caseih.com/us/EmpireTractorCazenovia/parts-search.html#epc::mr02-5178ar02-5178-584-35080

The A capsule (assuming A is the forward capsule) should be on the left while facing it from the seat which is your first answer.
I did glance at them last night however and thought I could see an A and B stamped in the plug ends but swear the A was on the right. So your first instinct of them just being reversed might be the answer if they are labeled correctly in the picture. One way or the other Ill discover tonight.

Did you think anything wrong about the filter temp I mentioned?

Appreciate all your help. I’ve worked on the hydrostatics in my old Skidsteer several times in the past but they are pretty basic compared to this. You can disassemble it all and easily understand how it all works by just looking at it.
The 656 has a lot more valves involved that I’ve yet to understand.

Thanks again!
Tim

Who knows?

Left, right. Heck, I don't know up from down 'bout half the time.

There are two large plugs above the battery. The guy that is 'probably' giving you the grief lives under this green arrow.

However, I'd sure replace 'em both as that other joker is a "glorified" check valve and it ties right into the same deacceleration hydraulic circuit.
