lacky question..how do I get the radio out of a 86 series?

Pretty straight forward job. Roof off, remove mounting hardware, remove radio assembly through inside of cab by removing the five or six screws holding bezel (or what ever you want to call the plastic decorative mount). You may run into the tamper resistant nuts but they are no problem to finagle off. You will no doubt say, glad I took this roof off with this mess of dirt and crud under here. That foam piece of evaporator sealer just falls apart when it get old.

Pete must have had all easy "nuts" to remove on the radios he pulled. I've taken several out, & none have come easy.
If your radio doesn't work at all, check the 270 ohm 2-watt resistor on the power output board. They have a high failure rate.

Well, actually I used to have the correct wrench at the dealership but since then I just have to make do with what I can come up with and guess I have lucked out.
