What is involved in the changeover? The tractor has no lights on it currently and it has a mag.

The reason for the change is that I want to pull a small sprayer with a 12 volt electric pump.

Thanks,

Your call but for that I would just take a 12 volt battery and mount it some place and then use it and charge it when needed. For something like that it should last longer then you want to drive around. Ya you can switch to 12 volts but it will cost you close to $150 to do that including the battery that is

I agree with Old. Cheapest/quickest solution is to buy a 12 volt battery to run the sprayer when needed. Then simply recharge the battery after each use of the sprayer.

A portable "jump box" will work too - thought they typically have less capacity than a standard car battery.

Or borrow the battery from your car/truck for each spray session. Just make sure not to run the battery down too far to start your vehicle when you are finished spraying(!)

Get a wallyworld lawn tractor battery and use it to run the sprayer. $20 instead of $50 for alternator, $50 for 12 vokt battery, $? for wire, $? for time hooking up, and since you are asking I assune you have never done this and are asking for headaches.
