I'm working on three tractors all farmalls my super M is haveing electrical problems the generator is not charging the battery. My 400 the engine won't break free and has been siting in the shed i think the timing gears are messed up. and a 460 utillity has a hydrolic valve pin thats brocken and i want to now if you have to presurise the hydrolics when you rplace the pin. hope you guys have some answeres that will be very usfull.

Look on the 400 and be sure clutch is releasing and not froze up. This will make sure it's not starting in gear.

Convert the M to a 1 wire alternator. It is hard to say what is causing the 400 to be stuck. Could be the starter? Make sure it is in neutral before starting. The 460 should prime itself.

If you mean the roll pin where you change from single to double action on your 460, no you do not need to pressureize. Can't think of what other pin you would mean. Best way to check a stuck engine, remove starter and use a bar on flywheel ring gear. This allows you to feel what you are doing. May be hydraulic locked from coolant in cyl among many other possibilities.
