(quoted from post at 09:57:59 04/29/12) Shifter will go all other gears and then when you drop clutch tractor will cut off it is in 2 gears take it out of the foward gear and it will move in reverse but shifter will not go back in reverse.

Your shift lever is worn out to the point it is no longer fully engaging the shifter rails inside the transmission. You need to pull the lever out, and then use a long screwdriver, prybar, etc. to get the shift rails all lined up again. You then need to make some repairs to the bottom end of the shifter lever. Somewhere in this forum are the instructions of how to do that.

Take the shifter out of the top of the trans. Move the rails back to center (left and right) the tip might be worn enough to allow the shifter tip to slip out of the rail grooves. Jim

Thanks guys I will try it tomorrow on Monday morning any way to guage how much weld to add to the shifter or how big the nob should be or is it just a trial and error thing.

When you get ready to move the rails tie the clutch pedal down so there is no binding of the gears and it will make the job easier.

my C locks occasionally, i jack up one rear wheel; takes the pressure off of the gears. then shifter can be moved easier. usually my tractor locks when i try to shift too quickly; or going down hill and shifting.
