IH 656 Hydro Problem...

Was driving the tractor down the road today and had the hydro right lever on high, and left pushed up to full detent.
The tractor drove for a few minutes then stopped as if I pressed on the clutch petal, if I pull the speed leven 1/2 way down to 1/2 speed it started going again with a nice jerk.
Found out it has this problem even if the right lever is in the lower gear range. I assume there is nothing wrong with the hydro as it works good until you go past the half way point. Reverse seems to work without any problems. Is this an easy fix? or is the the start of something bad? Thanks,
Todd Young

Your problem is the S R lever (left side speed ratio lever) is misadjusted or worn so it is not pulling and holding the drive selector spool out (or in, can't remember which way it pulls it for forward) far enough. Even a loose quadrant that lets lever move back slightly toward centered position will do this. You can usually verify this by manually holding lever to engagement side.
