hey guys I am wondering if there is any inexpensive way to get a few more ponys out of a super m. I am debating on the turbo from keystone turbos but don't really want to spend that kind of money on the tractor. Also has any one tried turboing a super M.

Bob Mellville probably knows the answer but I think there is a 2 barrell carburator that can be fitted on the M.

I think it was "Heisler" that made the 2 barrel carb, but that carb also requires the 2 barrel manifold to go with it. If you find one, be prepared to pay more than the Super M is worth.
 
Yea there is and easy way but HORSE POWER COSTS MONEY . Ya can put high alt. pistons in it and ya can change them and go to a 450 manifold and cam . Recurve the dist.rework the carb up the RPM's and retime the cam . Just how much you want and just how deep your pockets are . I am getting just a whisker shy of 60 out of my S/MTA Vernon's S/MTA is getting 92 so JUSt HOW MUCH ya want.
 
30 plus years ago I had a Super M that I farmed with, it had 4 1/8 inch thin wall sleeves and fire crater pistons, about .060 inch milled off the head and carburetor and distributor rework jobs by a friend who seemed to know a lot about 4 cylinder Farmalls. This tractor handled a 3-16's plow in all conditions usually in third gear needing second only in the most stubborn conditions or where it was very stony. It would pull gravity wagons loaded with grain better than either of my uncle's 560 diesels. It did burn quite a lot of good gas though when working hard.
 
my M has been "440'd", i pull a 14 foot disc in 4th with no problem. it plays with a 3-16 plow(4th gear seems too fast). this aug i'll dyno it at the steam show in forest on.
