I just started tearing down a farmall h. I am having a hard time getting one of the pistons out. any suggestions?

is it just frozen in place - or is it moving normally and the rings are getting stuck at the wear ridge line?

If you have pulled the crank off it should slide out the bottom, some time I have had to use a bigger hammer and a block of wood.

if removing out the top rust may be behind the rings preventing them from colapsing

If you can do so safely try this. Fill that cylinder 3/4 of the way full of ATF then add a couple tablespoons of gas to that. Let it sit a few minutes so as to mix it up then light it on fire. Add gas 2 or 3 times after it has stopped burning. Then try to remove that piston after the fluid has cooled to a safe temp. What that does is heats and expands that cylinder and sometimes that with the ATF seeping down the sides of the piston and ring will be enough to free it up. I have free up a few engines using that trick over the years
