cub problem

have a 68 cub runs rough when cold but when its get up to temp in about 10 minutes runs great I cleaned the carb changed the intake gasket is there something I missed if anyone has any ideas let me know

Running the float level a little .030 or so can help. As can using a larger main jet. The fuel today runs lean and makes things worse. Use very small changes in jet size to make the change. Jim

IMHO, ignition problems do not get better with heat.

If the Cub runs great after it warms up, try using the choke during the first few minutes. Run it at 1/2 choke to richen the fuel mixture to keep it running smooth until it warms up.

Every tractor is a little bit different at startup. Some like lots of choke, some just need a blip, and some don't need any at all.

That sure sounds like an issue with choke but on the other hand 10 minutes seems like a long time to smooth out. You did not say if you were using it or not but have to agree that this is the first place I would look. Be sure to follow the linkage down to the carb and make sure you are actually operating the choke when you pull the rod. Cub packs a lot of stuff into a very small space and things can conflict. Pull the air intake and operate the choke and make sure the butterfly is moving properly. From recent personal experience and HTH...Dave

I have had the choke on to about 3/4 choke does seem to run a little better just seems weird it takes so long to clear up and my dads has a 51 cub in about a minute or two its ready to go with full power

Sounds pretty normal to me. I have seven Cubs and each one is different, as Matt says. Run some Seafoam through it and give it a tuneup, as Jim suggested, if it hasn't one for a while.

I had a similar problem with my cub. Turned out that it was a condenser going south. Replaced and runs great now.(cold or hot)

just an update I put new condensor and points in didnt help changed plug wires didnt help checked timing that was on the only thing I saw strange my carb had like a small hole in the top piece I had another top sitting around and swaped it out tractor seems to run better at full throtle it does break up some and I havent tried tractor when cold yet
