What year is my regular

I recently acquired a regular. The serial number tag is gone and was wondering how to get close to what year it is. It has an exghust manifold that goes through the hood, a tall air breather, single brake lever on the left side if any of these help on the year.

I don't know much about Farmall Regulars, but is it possible to identify the year from the engine number? I guess they had a separate engine number stamped somewhere on the block?

The serial number is stamped into the LH frame rail in front of the radiator, except some late ones it's next to the bellhousing. There is also a serial # stamped on the engine. If it's the original engine it should be close to the one on the frame if not the same. If the exhaust comes through the hood someone put a different manifold on it.

I guess they made a replacement to make the exhaust go up because mine still has the reg. carb not a f20 style

That number stamp on the left front frame rail isn t stamped very deep on my 1927, I didn t even see it at first. The handle on the brake is a clue also, either a round knob or a flat blade type. Blade is an earlier one. Somewhere I read that there was a kit to put the exhaust through the hood way back when...Mine has a hole cut for it, but has the side exhaust on it now. 85 year old machine has likely seen a few changes huh ? lol

I wish it could talk. To me that's half the fun finding out it's history and what has been done to it. An old man told me it was parked in 39 because they got an f20 but after the last few days of work I have found out that they bought an f20 and parked the regular because there is a crack from the top of the block to the bottom that looks like they started repairing but decided it was a lost cause. Suprising the bottom end of the engine is clean and looks like it just came from the field yesterday lol

I can sure take some tomarow. After I got it on the trailer and heading home I thought I should have taken some pictures of it under the half dead tree it was under. To the best of my knowledge it has been out of comision since 1939. I will take some pictures and post them I already have the head off tho.
