I removed the oil pump on this stuckk SH. I have dissassembled and cleaned. There was a very thin gasket between the 2 halves where the pump gears are. I can not find gasket paper that thin. Can I use thin film of silcone?
No longer stuck. But had one heck of a time getting pistons out.

The gasket is a shim and gasket as one. THey come in differing thicknesses. CaseIH should still have them. 100% rag content paper will work. Grease the paper before use, and it will be OK. The rotor to cover clearance is tight, .001 max to .0005" Flat sand the cover to assure it is flat with 320 grit Silicon carbide on a piece of flat glass. Thickness can be measured by carefully tightening the pump on a small tab of .001 shim stock. as it is tightened down gently, the gear will seize when moved back and forth a little if it is tighter than .001. If looser, it will not lock up, and the gasket shim is too thick. if it does lock up, a .0005 shim should lock it up. Do not over tighten it with the brass shim stock in it or you will warp the cover. Jim
