806 pto won't disengage

I have an 806 diesel (serial # 3602S-Y) and the PTO will not disengage.

This tractor is used only at the deer lease for bushhogging and plowing food plots.

We replaced the hydraulic pump recently with a rebuilt pump.

Any ideas what"s going on?

Check a the actuator valve on the pto to make sure that there isn't dirt keeping the shaft from going all the way in. If it has a rubber boot covering the top of the valve take it off and throw it away. Dirt gets in the boot and keep the shaft from going all the way in. If you let the pto keep running due to dirt under the boot it will wear out the discs due to partial engagement.

I will check that next time I go to the camp, but I really don"t think that"s the problem.

If there is no dirt keeping it from going all the way in, what would be my next step.

Keep in mind that the PTO stays on all the time, it doesn"t stop turning until you kill the engine. It was working fine, and just started this all of a sudden.

Thanks for your reply.

I would say that it has been run to long with out the correct pressure setting and you have done up and went and SMOKED the clutch pack to the point that they are WELDED together . So now not only will it need a rebuild but it will also need new brake pistons and springs. Then once it is all back together then ya need to set the lock up pressure .

Vet, does the MCV control the hyd for the PTO?? I was under the impression the mcv regulated the, brake, steering, T/A hyd pressure and the 3pt, pto, and remotes, were ran off a different pump, system
