ref erence Yesterday tractor step by step volt
conversion . The wiring for going from 12 to 6 on diagram 5 shows the neg to ground and the pos direct
to the starter. I don"t see how this will work. Don"t you need something in between . I really could
use some help on this

Do a google search for Bob M's wiring diagrams and he will show you. But yes there needs to be a starter switch between the terminal and your starter. Otherwise it'll be cranking all of the time.

It would depend on the type of starter it has. Some have a switch that is mounted on the starter so if the switch is there then it would be correct but if the switch is not there yep you would have a problem

Positive goes to the starter SWITCH, okay?

On a lot of the old Farmalls, the switch is mounted directly on the starter.

farmallbob;s diagram number 5 wiring dia. I think
i;m down to a old time starter switch. would like
to use a ford sol,but don;t know how to wire right.
when i try can;t get it to shut of???

This should help.
If it is Delco, it is the 1 and 2, if Hitachi, It is l and S.
The terminals on the relay must be used as shown. Putting the Battery lead near the I terminal will not work, it must be near the S terminal.
