I bought this '41 H and it has a non factory wide front end on it. Does anyone know what it is from?

It is an IH factory wide front-just not H.Looks like a W4,the Wheatland version of the H.Looks well done,if I might add.Leave it on,lots more interesting than"just another'restored'H"(IMHO).

Looks like W6 maybe early model. But I don't think you would want it turned upside down. The whole front of the tractor would be too low to the ground.

I am sure it is up the way it is to get the better height but the arms on the knuckles are now on the bottom not the top where they are on the W-4 and W-6. The W-9 front axle is not straight and the W-4 (and I suspect the W-6) axles are straight on top and taper down the greatest depth at the centre. This tapers up to the centre.

On hindsight, after looking at the knuckles on my W-4 (1941) and my O-12 (1937) the axle and knuckles look more like that used on the Modified O-12 (built 1936 onwards) which had the 6.00x16 front wheels instead of the earlier 6.00x9 front wheels with a much shorter front axle. In the posted photograph the axle is on upside down (both axle and knuckles). The new axle for the O-12 did not mean that International had to make a new design as the part numbers are the same as those for the front axle on the Narrow Tread McCormick-Deering 10-20
