Farmall A ammeter

If I change my charging system from the original 6v cutout relay to a 12v with a VR can I still use the same Ammeter. I noticed when I was looking for a new one, the one like the original was listed for cutout and a differant one for VR, but I can't see what the difference would be. I would like to use the original style if I can. Thanks for any input.

Not to worry - the original ammeter will work fine on 12 volts and with a VR!

It surely will work just fine. An ammeter just measures current flow, which is a given number of electrons flowing through a system per second (coulombs per second). Voltage does not affect it. An ammeter capable of measuring 20 amps will work at 1 volt or 100,000 volts providing the current flow is 20 amps or less.
