increase power on 784

How much hp can I get out of a 784? My current
main tractor is a 784 with a loader and I have
been looking for another tractor to help with
haying. Was hoping for something with a little
more power, however local dealer has a 784 that
looks in good shape. My round baler calls for
minimum 65hp. Would like to have more than
slightly over the minimum. Can I reasonably get
it turned up to closer to 75hp?

Thanks,
(sorry for the long post)

Yea ya can tweak it a bit BUT when you do she will get warmer . Also a bigger tractor will handle the round baler better . Don't know how your ground lays but over here in my neck of the woods there ain't no way i would hook our 130 Krone behind a 784 and get on the hills we have with it and a full bale in the chamber , about the time you pushed in the clutch and stepped on the brake to back up and kick the bale out you would be finding out that your 784 could achieve real close to a WARP factor 6.5 going down the hill with both back tire locked up then thru the woods over the drop off and find yourself in the creek thinking wow i was just up there on that hill a second ago . Find yourself an nice ROW crop that has 90-100 pony power and has some weight to it . Heck we have a couple fields that the haybine will shove the 806 and it weighs in at 13500-14000

Hi, my brother's 684 with a D-239 dynoed 66 HP when it was new. When we used it on the corn harvester we would back the screw off another few turns. BUT we had to watch the temp gauge.
So your 784 with D-246 should easily make over 70 PTO HP.
BUT listen to Tractor Vet, there is more to round baling than PTO HP. There is the tractor weight to load ratio. Trust me I have been there with MF135 and a loaded silage wagon.
