looking at 1961 int.404,it appears that they are running hydraulics off pto pump, want to put 3 pt on but not sure, dont see any hookups, are there any 3 pts taht work or is it better to make one. and how hard is it to put on power steering, it has a loader.

I never had a 404, but always liked them. Should have originally had a three point hitch, or it was at least optional, and if I'm seeing it correctly in the pictures the hydraulic pump was cam driven like the 240, so the pump should be on the front right side of the engine. Yes Wengers dot com has a replacement hydraulic pump for $595 Check JP Tractor Salvage for 3 point stuff. He may have it, or start you in the right direction.

If you buy it, Buy it cheap. It sounds like it may be expensive to put it back right again. Probably why they are using a pto driven roller pump for hydraulics.

i was wrong on the model, the guy just let me know it is the 240 utility. I drove it today, thinking it was a 404.

I have a 240 farmall. Does the one you are looking at have a fast hitch? If so, it is easy to adapt them to 3 point.
JP Tractor Salvage will probably have all the parts you will need, I've purchased stuff from them. He would probably have a hydraulic pump, and it
is driven off the cam gear. Then you could get rid of the PTO pump and run off the hydra touch. Same advice as I had for the 404, buy it at a good price. Sounds like it will need work.

I have a 240U with a CharLynn torque generator PS on it. The front steering gears and steering arm set-up on the 240U are weak and you will most likely have a problem with it at some point with a loader. The TG is mounted in the steering rod that runs along the left side of the engine and is a pretty clean arangement, but the weak gears and arm will not take the load of a loader over time. Mine showed evidenceof repairs before I bought it and I have rebuilt the front since I have had it. what happened on mine was the shaft below the bolster woreout the Woodruff keey slot, it had then been reversed 180 and a new keyway cut for the arm to mount. When I got it, the second keyway was worn out so I had to buy a gear set and arm from a salvage. Gear and shaft for the arm are one piece. As I said in an earlier post, the 404 has a pair of cylinders and a steering valve instead of a torque generator that no doubt puts too much strain on the gears and arm. With cylinders attached directly to the arm, the strain is "downstream" from the weak points, so should last longer. Fnd a 404 or newer if you can would be my recommendation.
One more problem... mine has a priority flow divider valve to supply the PS and then I lose flow to the 3 point below about 1/3 throttle.
