Farmall HV Hitch

What modifications to would be needed to use a Farmall M 3 Point Hitch on a Farmall HV with Cat 1 implements?
The HV axle case is 11" higher than the H and the tires are 11.2-38.

.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hv's are pretty rare tractors why take a chance on breaking
something... go buy a cheap narrow front h for thousand
bucks and put a 3pt on that. Leave the hv alone, just my
opinion. Jim.

The 3pt hitch will bolt right on to the axle housings of the HV with no modifications.

However, it will be 11" too high, so many implements probably won't reach the ground.

Rarity of the tractor aside, it may or may not work. In your picture, you would probably have to drop the arms as far as they will go. This will likely put more strain on the vertical rods. Not saying it can't be done, but I have never seen a picture of a 3 point on an HV or MV.

I agree that it will be too high, but with 5/8"
thick drop plate for the front pull points, it would
work. Longer lift links are needed as well. Jim

What do you think of extending the lift arms 11" with threaded rod and a coupling nut?

If it is a hardware store type rod, the 1st thing that they will do is bend. I don't know if you can buy threaded rod as good as the original on the tractor.

This is what I ordered.
Medium-Strength Alloy Steel Threaded Rods—ASTM A193 Grade B7
ASTM A193 Grade B7 Alloy Steel Threaded Rod, Plain Finish, 1"-8 Thread, 1' Length.

The hitch can be lowered about 6" by drilling new holes in the factory axle bracket. For additional support the draw bar will be attached to the 3 point hitch lower cross member.

I think the 5/8" thick drop plate for the front pull points idea is the best solution.

I made the drop plates with 1/2" x 3" mild steel, which lowered the hitch 9". The bolts are 3/4" grade 2.
Thanks for the idea Jim.
